College bouquet no more!
A college in Wuhan, Hubei Province started on Wednesday, to prohibit teachers from accepting bouquets from students, reported by Chutian Metropolis Daily on March 24.
Lu Yuanfang, director of Student Affairs Department in Changjiang Professional College (CPC) announced that teachers and counselors are forbidden to receive bouquets on any festivals or birthdays. And those who are against this rule will be dismissed.
He points out that the bouquets pose economic burden to the poor students and destroy academic atmosphere.
The new mandate however, is arousing opposition.
Wu Shuang, a sophomore of business English major told reporters that the flowers is a way to show their gratitute to teachers.
A counselor named Luo Yan says students can express their feeling by e-flowers or text messages.
